After a request for a shot of the NOAA techs launching a balloon, I figured, "Hey, that'd make a nifty postcard."

Balloons are regularly launched from the South Pole Station for weather and atmospheric chemistry measurements. Both the Meteorology Techs and NOAA techs conduct balloon launches. The balloons are launched from the Balloon Inflation Facility. The BIF is a large heated and wind-protected space where the balloons can be properly prepared for launch. Radios are located in the BIF to receive the radiosonde data.
