During a night spent at the RF-building for a programming cloister, I took occasional breaks to go outside and gaze at the wonderful hints of color on the horizon. Judging from the direction of the light, I believe it must have been about 3am when I took this photo.

I took advantage of the time on the ice to learn a new programming language. This came in handy for writing remote control software for a lot of our satellite equipment, particularly when a bit of programming could easily save several walks out to the RF building each week. Given that the RF building's about a mile from the dome (with one direction into a -140°F windchill) a little programming was worth quite a bit in terms of frosty eyelashes.

Of course, it was nice to head out to the RF building every now and then. It was a nice little patch of extra quiet space, perfect for getting away from the dome for a while if you wanted some time to yourself. It wasn't much for creature comforts, but it was warm.
