| Welcome!
-And thank you for your interest. Let me tell you a bit about my professional background. I am a microwave design engineer by educational background, with photography being my primary pastime hobby. While most of this web site is dedicated to the photography hobby, my professional goals are of no less personal importance. Since graduating with my BSEE (Summa Cum Laude) from Michigan Technological University in 1994, I've been an officer in the US Navy, a graduate student at the University of Michigan, an engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and a winter-over communications technician at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station, among other engineering careers. I received my MSEng (with honors) from the University of Michigan in 2000. I'm interested in a wide variety of subjects professionally, but particularly so in the areas of microwave layout and design, wireless link design, and radar. Ideally, a mixture of hands-on lab work and computer design/simulation works well for me. Designing, building, and testing hardware from the ground up is what I'd like to do. If I can do those tasks in or for a remote environment, all the better! (The South Pole, for instance...) Professional interests include rf/microwave design, communications systems/hardware design, DSP algorithm implementation in FPGAs using HOL tools, and spending many hours on end sipping coffee and listening to music while programming in the Matlab/Simulink environment. Photography, hiking, sea kayaking, and traveling are my off-duty passions. If you'd like specific details, please contact me for my resume. In the interests of reducing spammer's efforts, my email is illustrated in the graphic below. You are, of course, welcome to email me cold, just please use the text,"Jon, about your resume" in the subject line, so I know it's for real. If I don't recognize the sender, I'm likely to assume it's spam, and delete it without opening it. |
